Career on the mountain with the BFI – specialist training for cable cars

Employees with practical experience in the technical field of cable car operation can complete the recognized apprenticeship as a cable car technician in one year on the job.

Since 2011, 94 new specialists have already been trained in the second cycle of education through courses in preparation for the extraordinary final examination at the BFI Salzburg, who is now working in the cable car industry. Already in September 2020, the next course “cable car technology in the 2nd educational path” starts.

This year, it is particularly attractive to complete the course: due to the current collective agreement, skilled workers are now ranked better than those employees with completed machinist training. In addition, skilled workers expect an earlier advance in salary grading.

Education in Zell am See and the Regional Vocational School Hallein

The aspiring rope haulers receive well-founded training because highly technical and complex systems require highly-trained specialists. The theoretical lessons take place at the BFI Pinzgau in Zell am See.

The practical training is carried out at the Regional Vocational School Hallein, the Competence Centre for cable car specialist training. Due to the Austrian-wide apprenticeship for cable car technology, this location offers optimal conditions and unique equipment with lift systems from all leading manufacturers.

The course was developed by absolute experts from practice for practice. The training therefore also prepares specifically for the final apprenticeship examination.
